7th Pay Commission Salary Calculator India 2026
The 7th Pay Commission (effective 1 January 2016) restructured the entire Indian government salary framework. It replaced grade pay with a Pay Matrix of 18 Levels. As of January 2026, the Dearness Allowance (DA) stands at 55% of Basic Pay.
How Is Government Salary Calculated?
Gross Salary = Basic Pay + DA (55%) + HRA (9–27%) + Transport Allowance + Other Allowances. Net In-Hand = Gross – (NPS 10% + CGHS + Income Tax).
HRA Slabs (7th CPC)
- X Cities (Metro): 27% of Basic Pay – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad
- Y Cities: 18% of Basic Pay – State capitals & cities with population 5L–50L
- Z Towns: 9% of Basic Pay – All remaining areas

Pension Under NPS (National Pension System)
